Cherkizovo Group, Russia’s largest meat producer, welcomed teenagers from the Pskov Center for Children without Parental Care at its meat processing plant in the Leningrad Region. The kids learned about prospective employment with the Company and took part in a cooking master class.
This week, twelve teenagers from the Center for Children without Parental Care (Pechorsky District, Pskov Region) became guests at Cherkizovo Group's plant in Gorelovo, Leningrad Region. The visit took place as part of a program the Company and the April Charity Foundation are running together in the North-Western Federal District. The program seeks to introduce disadvantaged adolescents to Cherkizovo operations and tell them about the most sought-after professions.
At a career guidance session held by Cherkizovo's Center for Student Programs and Youth Initiatives, the young guests learned that modern agricultural production needs skilled and motivated talent with a profound knowledge in physics, chemistry, biology, agricultural engineering, veterinary medicine, and other academic fields. The children also found out about the opportunities to receive vocational or university education under targeted recruitment programs and start a professional career at Cherkizovo sites across the country.
A nice add-on to the visit was a cooking master class by Eduard Denisov, the Company’s Brand Chef, who made dishes from the plant's products. During the event, he spoke about the basic principles of healthy eating, stressing the importance of a balanced diet.
Launched in 2011, the Gorelovo site houses a meat-processing facility with a design capacity of 130 tonnes per day and a logistics hub. It produces more than 100 SKUs, including hot dogs, sausages (cooked, cooked and smoked), and ready-to-cook meat products such as meatballs and steaks. The facility boasts a high degree of automation, which minimizes the use of manual labor, and is certified under FSSC 22000 standard.
