Moscow, Russia – April 6 – The Research & Development Lab of Cherkizovo Group, Russia’s largest meat producer, has reported the results of its work in 2021: 372 thousand tests conducted, which include highly sophisticated studies in a range of agricultural areas.
Cherkizovo Lab is a European-class R&D center focusing on analysis and testing of food products, one of a kind in the Russian agricultural sector. Being the Group’s key platform for research and testing, the lab also cooperates with a large number of Russian and foreign producers.
“The lab delivers testing against more than 500 criteria, including 27 unique lab tests for the private sector, with COVID-19 being one of them,” said Sergey Shapovalov, PhD in Biology and Director of Cherkizovo’s Research & Development Lab. In April 2021, the center became the first private laboratory to receive accreditation to test environmental samples for COVID-19, which marked another step in assuring safety of Cherkizovo Group products for its partners.
Cherkizovo Lab's primary research areas include quality and consumer properties of food products, animal feeds and food additives, genetics and animal health, soil and fertilizers. The Lab’s mission is to promote a balanced diet and healthy living through an in-depth R&D analysis of foods and, ultimately, improve people’s quality of life.
According to Sergey Shapovalov, in 2021, the Lab's technical competence was endorsed by two accrediting organizations: the Federal Service for the Accreditation (RusAccreditation) and Association of Analytical Centers Analitica, a non-governmental institution. He pointed out that the use of advanced methods and equipment on par with global standards ensures exceptional accuracy in research. It is worth noting that the Lab earned accolades and recognition from the industry and regulatory authorities, such as Rospotrebnadzor and Rosselkhoznadzor.
Launched back in 2016, the project received EUR 10 million worth of investment. The Lab’s total area is 2,000 sq m. It takes active part in multiple educational and social projects.
