Moscow, Russia – April 13 – Cherkizovo Group, Russia’s largest meat producer, kept its position as the country’s leading feed producer in 2021. The Company’s feed mills supplied 2.1 million tonnes of product for the needs of its poultry and pig farms.
Agroinvestor Magazine has published its annual rating of Russia’s largest feed producers. Once again, Cherkizovo Group topped the list with the 2021 output of 2.1 million tonnes. The Company maintained its lead even despite a 5% production decline versus 2020, which had to do with temporary suspension of operations at Altaisky Broiler in the third quarter. All feed produced by Cherkizovo’s nine feed mills goes to its own livestock and poultry facilities.
According to the Federal State Statistics Service data cited by Agroinvestor, a total of 31.9 million tonnes of feed was produced in Russia in 2021, up 1.1 million tonnes (or 3.4%) year-on-year. Poultry feed still accounts for most of the total production with a 49.9% share, followed by pig (41.6%), cattle (8%) and other fodder (0.5%).
In 2022, Cherkizovo expects to ramp up its feed production by 29% to 2.7 million tonnes. On top of that, the Company plans to expand the feed mill in the Tambov Region’s Pervomaysky District, which supplies feed to the birdhouses of Tambov Turkey (the Pava-Pava brand). This will take the mill’s hourly volumes to 60–80 tonnes by 2023 from the current 40 tonnes.
