Cherkizovo Group ready for planting season

Moscow, Russia – March 30 – Cherkizovo Group, Russia’s largest meat producer, completes its preparation for the new planting season. This year, the total area of cultivated land in the Voronezh, Lipetsk, Orel, Penza and Tambov regions will amount to 230,800 ha and will be used for wheat, soybean, corn, sunflower and other crops that the Company relies on to make feed for its poultry and pig farms.

The preparation for the planting season at Cherkizovo’s fields is progressing as planned and now nearing completion. The Group’s grain segment facilities have all the necessary equipment, with their need for seed material also fully met. The planting season is expected to start on April 10 and end in late May. Throughout this period, Cherkizovo Group’s facilities will be deploying more than 170 units of agricultural machinery.

Most of Cherkizovo’s farmland is located in the Penza Region, where a total of 84,100 ha will be used for planting. Of that, 20,400 ha will be planted with spring wheat, 17,200 ha with soybean, 12,100 ha with sunflower, and 3,500 ha with corn. In the Lipetsk Region, the Company intends to farm 62,900 ha, including 26,700 ha for soybean, 11,500 ha for spring wheat, 6,000 ha for corn, 1,900 ha for spring rapeseed, and 1,400 ha for sunflower.

Of the 36,800 ha of its land in the Tambov Region, Cherkizovo plans to use 12,100 ha for soybean, 9,200 ha for spring wheat, 6,300 ha for sunflower, and 1,200 ha for corn. In the Voronezh Region, 12,500 ha are designated for soybean, with corn and spring wheat to take up 8,700 ha and 2,300 ha, respectively. The total area of cultivated land in the Voronezh Region will be 25,700 ha. Finally, of the 21,300 ha of land in the Orel Region, 8,000 ha are planned to be used for soybean, 4,600 ha for spring wheat, and 3,000 ha for corn.
