Specialized Grain Receiving Line Starts Operating in Lipetsk Region
An automated grain receiving centre has started operating at the Lev Tolstoy Feed Mill. The owner of the mill is Lipetskmyasoprom OJSC, a company managed by Cherkizovo Group. All processes are fully automated, with grain cleaning, drying, and storage in one place.
The facility was built at a cost of 160 million roubles, and construction was completed in record time of only one year.
The new centre with capacity of up to 150 tonnes per hour will double the volume of grain received here. This will allow storage of a six-month grain reserve, a crucial advantage for Cherkizovo Group, which produces nearly 70,000 tonnes of pork per year in Lev Tolstoy District alone. The mill will supply feed to the Group’s facilities in Lev Tolstoy, Terbunsky and Volovsky Districts.
The new centre is fully automated and has only 12 people working on the line. There are no other grain storage facilities like it in Lipetsk Region.
All processes, from grain cleaning, drying, and storage, to milling and mixing ingredients, are conveniently “gathered” in one place. The environment has also been taken into consideration. Aspiration systems are used at all production stages to remove fine dust particles. Smart European equipment can also separate wet grain from dry and bring it to the required condition.
“Both wet and dry grain arrives at the receiving centre. With our modern dryers, we can bring substandard grain to the proper condition,” said COO of Lipetskmyasoprom OJSC Andrei Kovalev.
Deputy Governor of Lipetsk Region Nikolai Tagintsev also mentioned another important advantage of the new centre. “Heat treatment of feed is a necessity today, when neighbouring regions have recorded cases of African swine fever. This will minimize the probability of animals becoming infected with the virus.”
