Russian poultry producer Chicken Kingdom, a unit of domestic meat processor Cherkizovo Group, increased output by 6.4% on the year to 81,500 tonnes of poultry in 2010, Director of Cherkizovo Group’s poultry division Maxim Klimov said at a meeting Friday.
«We had been witnessing stagnation in poultry production since 2006. In 2010, the output amounted to 81,500 tonnes of meat. This is a record for the company," Klimov said.
Chicken Kingdom needs to increase its capacities in order to continue to increase production, he added. That is why Cherkizovo Group decided in 2009 to build livestock complexes worth 18 billion rubles for poultry and pork production in the Lipetsk Region’s Eletsprom special economic zone. The projects are to be started in April and finished in 2019.
The complexes are to include a poultry processing plant, animal feed mill, and a hatching house, among other facilities. Of the total funds, the company is expected to finance about 80% of the project using borrowed funds.
Chicken Kingdom, which is also known as Kurinoye Tsarstvo, has production sites in the Bryansk, Lipetsk, and Voronezh regions.
