The Cherkizovo Group’s total sales volume in the poultry division in the first half of 2013 grew by 4%, to nearly 165,114 tons of sellable weight, compared to 158,345 tons in the same period last year, the company said.
Sales in the pork division in the January-June period jumped by 50%, or 1.5 times, to nearly 70,078 tons, compared to 46,764 tons a year earlier.
During the reported period, sales in the meat processing division rose by 2%, to approximately 63,226 tons, compared to 62,105 tons for the same period last year.
In the first half of the year, sales in the grain division were 12,149 tons of various crops; this was 43% less than the same period of 2012, which posted sales of 21,193 tons. The volume decrease resulted from selling the bulk of harvest for 2012 at the end of that year due to more advantageous market conditions. In the first and second quarters of 2013, there were shipments that had been contracted for in late 2012.
