Cherkizovo Group OJSC is willing to consider developing a special-purpose selective sheep breeding cluster in the Altai Republic. This was discussed during a meeting between the Governor of the Altai Republic Alexander Berdnikov and the Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors Igor Babaev. Specialists from Cherkizovo Group will soon be visiting the Altai Republic to assess the prospects for the project on site. “The climate of the republic is very well suited to livestock breeding,” Mr. Babaev said. “It is absolutely unfair that New Zealand and Australian lamb dominate the Russian market today, while vast areas of our country lie unused.” In turn, Mr. Berdnikov emphasized that the regional government was interested in attracting large investors. “The meat processing complex proposed for the Altai Republic has our full support,” Mr. Berdnikov said.
